Microneedling (Collagen Induction)

Please refer to the below contraindications before you consider booking yourself for this treatment as it involves electric modalities. We do not recommend this service if you have any of the below health conditions:

  • Cancer
  • Skin cancer that is active or being treated
  • Suffer from a known malignancy or are undergoing or about to undergo treatments using chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or steroids
  • Pregnancy or breast-feeding
  • Any contagious or transmittable diseases
  • Have a known history of clotting or bleeding disorders such as hemophilia
  • Chronic inflammatory skin conditions
  • Are immune deficient or immune suppressed due to medical conditions or medications
  • Suffer from uncontrolled diabetes (high blood sugar)
  • Dysfunction of the nervous system
  • Tuberculosis or liver function issues
  • Epilepsy
  • Disorders of collagen formation such as scleroderma
  • Suffer from an active skin infection, including bacterial, viral, or fungal infection
  • Suffer from an infection such as hepatitis or human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)
  • Have or had eczema, psoriasis, vitiligo, or auto-immune disease
  • Have an active rash on the face
  • Have a current outbreak of cold sores (herpes)
  • Have actinic (solar) keratoses, keloid scars (or a history of keloid scars), warts, or birthmarks or moles in the treatment area
  • Are allergic to stainless steel or to topical or local anesthetics or have a history of contact dermatitis to these products

To further safeguard against any irritation or complications, please follow the below guidelines prior to your service:
Do not use topical agents that may increase your skin’s sensitivity such as retinoids, exfoliants, topical antibiotics, or hydroxy acids 3-5 days prior to the service.

  • Avoid IPL/Laser procedures for at least 2 weeks prior to the service.
  • No waxing, depilatory creams, or electrolysis to the area being treated for 5 days prior.
  • Avoid unprotected sun exposure or sunburn at least one week before the service.
  • Do not shave the face the day of the procedure to avoid skin irritation.
  • Keep makeup to a minimum day of the treatment if possible and do not experiment with new products before the service.
  • Avoid alcohol and caffeine 24-48 hours before the service.
  • Medications such as those for blood disorders and steroids
  • Taking anticoagulant (blood thinner) therapies such as warfarin, heparin, or low dose aspirin
  • Are currently taking acne medication with the ingredient isotretinoin (Accutane) or have taken isotretinoin in the past 6 months
