Meet the Maker
Angela Hubbard of Angie Watts
Name: Angela (Angie) Hubbard
Brand: Angie Watts
Established: November 2015
Company Base: North Carolina
What motivated you to start Angie Watts?
A layoff from my corporate job encouraged me to go for it. Prior to the layoff, I created a product for my daughter’s eczema that was sold to friends and family, as supplemental income, nothing serious. The layoff was certainly a big motivator and my ah-ha moment to control my own destiny — to work hard to build my own empire instead of someone else’s.
What would you consider your hero product from your brand?
My hero product is Nam Eczema and Extra Dry Skin Therapy (Butter and Serum). The product was created to treat my daughter’s extreme eczema, also my first product from the Angie Watts skincare line.
What standards/non-negotiables do you take into consideration when thinking about enhancing or developing new products?
Formulating a product that is not only vegan but also cruelty-free is non-negotiable. Plant-derived ingredients contain more nutrients, vitamins, and antioxidants to keep skin healthy and hydrated. Clean Beauty is a MUST!
What do you think are some of the biggest challenges for "beauty/wellness" brands today?
I would say funding, manufacturing and distribution.
What has been one of your proudest moments since creating your brand?
Each year that I am still in business (4 years strong), is a proud moment. Consumers have a vast selection of skincare brands to choose from, I am truly honored that they love my products enough to keep me in business year after year. Without customers, you have no business!
What can we expect in the future from Angie Watts?
In the future, we plan to expand our men’s line and dabble in Ayurvedic skin-care. We also plan to add more merch in the future.
How do you start your day?
I start my day with meditation, clean skin + FACE. Hydrating Facial Serum, followed by dropping my son off to school.
Do you have a morning / evening ritual?
I really wish I had a morning / evening ritual. There are things that I do everyday, such as selfcare but work consumes me. I typically put in 15 to 18 hours of work per day.
What is your daily skincare routine?
Cleanse, Tone, Hydrate, with nothing but Angie Watts products, of course… LOL
Do you have a daily wellniss routine?
I mediate daily and “force” myself to have breakfast, lunch and dinner. I’m not the greatest about having the most important meal of the day, breakfast. I wish my wellness routine included at least 7 hours of sleep.
What do you do for R&R when you need to reboot?
Nap!
What are your must-haves when travelling?
Angie’s Whipped Body Butter or Sheba Oil depending on the season, Hydrating Facial Serum, and hair bonnet that my husband hates… LOL
What self-care advice would you have given yourself 5 years ago?
Wear sunscreen and read your product labels. Stay away from toxic ingredients!
Do you have any beauty / wellniss advice for your followers?
Be good to yourself, you deserve nothing but the best and the best is here at Luxurious Wellniss!
