What motivated you to start Mogi Mogi Baby?
My son had bad eczema at 4 months old. I didn’t want to use steroids, instead I wanted to use natural, safe products while avoiding harsh chemicals. There were limited options available. That was my motivation to start mogi mogi baby.
What would you consider your hero product from your brand?
The Oatmeal / Yomogi bath pack is our hero product. Customers rave about its effects on eczema, diaper rash, and other skin related issues.
What standards / non-negotiables do you take into consideration when thinking about enhancing or developing new products?
When we develop new products, they must be natural, plant-based, and incorporate our key ingredient, the “yomogi herb.” This herb is very popular in my native country of Japan. It is scientifically proven to calm skin inflammation. For that reason, it is used to treat skin problems such as eczema, psoriasis, acnes etc.
What do you think are some of the biggest challenges for "beauty / wellness" brands today?
Keeping up with the demands of the changing marketspace while being loyal to the customer. Customers have more options today than ever and it is important to ‘listen’ to their demands and adjust accordingly.
What has been one of your proudest moments since creating Mogi Mogi Baby?
I was attending one of my sons school functions and there were a group of parents present, one mother was talking about her daughter’s skin improvement since trying Mogi Mogi bath pack. She recommended the product to another family and eventually me, unknowing that I am very familiar with it. ;)
What can we expect in the future from Mogi Mogi Baby?
Mogi Mogi Baby is excited to announce 3 new products in development, all centered around safe skin care. They are expected to launch end of 2021.
What advice would you give customers who want to make the most out of your brand?
We are grateful that the bath pack has been very well received by its users. It was initially designed to meet the needs of my own child’s skin but it has soothing effects for children as well as adults.
How do you start your day?
With a 6-year-old and a husband who sometimes acts like a 6-year-old, the house can get a little messy. Every day ‘we’ start the day cleaning. I feel a clean and clutter free environment brings a positive energy to the place.
Do you have a morning/evening ritual?
My son and I maintain a garden. Over the summer, we would spend some time every morning maintaining it together.
What is your daily skincare routine?
I believe in a simple skin care routine. I make my own moisturizer and soaps.
Do you have a daily wellness routine?
Meditation and stretching are part of my daily routine, usually in the evening before going to bed.
What is a beauty product or tool you can’t live without?
My Hair Dryer. I have long hair which takes a long time to dry naturally so I resort to the hairdryer.
What do you do for R&R when you need to reboot?
We do family time to relax and reboot. Sometimes a local day trip to a beach, museum, or even restaurant is enough to reboot. We make it a point to listen to each other and focus on what’s in front of us rather than work.
What are your must haves when traveling?
Contacts. I have terrible eyes. I am a light traveler and don’t bring much.
What selfcare advice would you have given yourself 5 years ago?
Compromise: Do not let everything that comes your way stress you out. Pick and choose battles and accept the fact that sometimes compromise can be better than winning. Many times, by listening to others and accepting compromise, the end-result is better.
Do you have any beauty / wellness advice for our followers?
Don’t be influenced by advertising. Read the ingredients and avoid toxins. Educate yourself with EWG skin deep for safe beauty products recommendations.
