What motivated you to start Jaxon Lane?
Alex and Jen are a California-based husband and wife team that launched Jaxon Lane in 2018.
We created Jaxon Lane because we couldn’t find premium, effective skincare products marketed to men, that aren’t full of “man” scents and dyes.
Our mission is to create super high-quality Korean skincare products, designed in a fun, approachable way. Whether you're new to skincare, or an old pro, you will find that the products just work. Whether it's a sheet mask that gives you an instant healthy glow, or a sunscreen that is non-greasy, non-white, and doesn't smell like sunscreen, we live to make products better than anything else you can find out there.
What would you consider your hero product from your brand?
Our first product was the Bro Mask and it’s still one of our most popular products. We’re really proud of the grooming awards it won in its first year, including the Men’s Health Magazine Grooming Award for Best Mask!
What advice would you give customers who want to make the most out of your brand?
Consistency is key - great skin is a marathon, not a sprint (even though a Bro Mask is like a cram session). Do a complete skincare routine twice a day, and you will notice an improvement in how healthy and glowing your skin looks in a fairly short amount of time.
What is your daily skincare routine?
Now a skincare fanatic, Alex grew up not taking care of his skin and had skin issues from his teenage years through young adulthood. He went from not wearing sunscreen so he could “get a little color” to employing a rigorous Korean-inspired five-step (sometimes ten-step) routine. Check out Alex’s interview on one37pm, with his complete skincare routine.
What is beauty product or tool you can’t live without?
The single most important part of a good skincare routine is daily sunscreen. Sure, it's nice to have a tan, but unprotected sun exposure is the single biggest cause of skin cancer—not to mention wrinkles and aging skin after your 30s. Most people don't know that skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States, and men are twice as likely to get skin cancer vs. women. Alex’s dad goes to the doctor to get skin cancers removed from his face and body several times a year, and comes out of each session with 14 stitches or a black eye. This is way too common, yet guys of our generation still haven't embraced daily sunscreen. This is why we set out to create a high-SPF sunscreen that is non-greasy and doesn't leave a white film, so it's easy to use every day, no excuses—rain or shine. It does double duty as a light moisturizer with great ingredients like hyaluronic acid and vitamin E.
What selfcare advice would you have given yourself 5 years ago?
Start now! Like going to the gym and eating well, great skin is a habit that develops and produces fruit over time.
