About the Brand
What motivated you to start Sade Baron?
My mother and my passion in being an entrepreneur.
What would you consider your hero product from your brand?
[There are] so many to pick from. For myself, the LaRose Bar cleanser and for Sade, the Tai Body Oil.
What standards/non-negotiables do you take into consideration when thinking about enhancing or developing new products?
Clean, natural, and does it help the skin. We really care about the feeling it leaves behind and during the applications.
What do you think are some of the biggest challenges for "beauty/wellness" brands today?
Reaching customers and moving past a crowd full of greenwashing brands vs. authentic well balanced products and brands. I also think funding is an issue to scale and keeping the products at the highest quality is challenging as well.
What has been one of your proudest moments since creating Sade Baron?
Getting emails from customers telling us how happy our products make them feel and how it has improved their lives. Every time I read those emails I get so happy and my heart skips a few beats along the way. That feeling makes me proud. Creating products that make an impact on the body and environment.
What can we expect in the future from Sade Baron?
More opportunities to cater to people around the world, reach more customers and connect with them further. I think there are a few things I hope the brand can achieve through education and product usage which is that body care is important and part of their wellness / personal care plan or goal.
What advice would you give customers who want to make the most out of your brand?
Try our bar soaps and cleansers. Those usually get people very interested. Start with our medium body moisturizer souffle which is great for all skin types. It has a mousse texture and your skin drinks it right away.
About the Maker
How do you start your day?
Wake at 7 AM, work-out, get ready and have a green smoothie, take some vitamins, get to work by 9 AM and work till about 5 PM. I am usually in and out of meetings, calls, and on the manufacturing floor to make sure everything is ok, count stock, answer emails and what not.
Do you have a morning/evening ritual?
I am not a morning person, but I try to get the hard tasks done in the morning so I can breeze through my day a lot easier. My evenings are filled with dinner plans, relaxation and tasks that require very little brain power i.e., Sudoku or watching some TV. I listen to a lot of meditation music throughout the day so my mind and body can relax and it's not too hard to fall asleep.
What is your daily skincare routine?
Day: For face, cleanse, tone, serum, moisturizer + booster and sunscreen. For body, cleanse, scrub (3 times a week), moisturize with Cloud Body Cream and for extra moisture, seal with Tai Body Oil.
Evening: I double cleanse to remove make up thoroughly. In addition, I love to mask, moisturize with an overnight treatment and double-serum.
Do you have a daily wellness routine?
I love vitamins, especially because it helps get me through the day and I have seen great benefits from it. I take B12, B50 and Magnesium which help with energy and keep the body relaxed. I also like to get a massage one or twice a month depending on my schedule to remove the stress. Working out has been a great booster for a while now and I love it.
What is a beauty product or tool you can’t live without?
My sea sponge which I use for my body and face. Facial roller, Moi Balm. I have several around my desk, purse and [I also carry] sunscreen. No sunscreen, no going out.
What do you do for R&R when you need to reboot?
Nothing. Sleep, take walks and listen to music. Watch TV shows. I am a binge watcher. I don’t watch TV everyday so when I relax I will watch a whole season on the weekend. It would be months until I watch something again. Another is to take these 25 minute power naps and have meditation music in the background. It's so relaxing.
What are your must haves when traveling?
Tai Body Oil, Moi Balm, sunscreen.
What selfcare advice would you have given yourself 5 years ago?
Always put yourself first. You can’t be of any use if you are not taking care of yourself.
Do you have any beauty/wellness advice for our followers?
Read the ingredients, ask brands questions and be kind to yourself.
