Name: Kristen Sonntag
Brand: Sunday Diamond
Established: 2017

What motivated you to start?
Prior to starting my own business, I was a television producer, creating arts and culture programming for PBS in New York. After becoming a parent and a Reiki practitioner, I wanted to build a creative livelihood around healing work.
What would you consider your hero product from your brand?
Spirit Work is my line of ritual mists that encompasses the healing vibrations of essential oils, crystal and Reiki energy, and sound. Every bottle comes with a music and guidebook download.
What standards / non-negotiables do you take into consideration when thinking about enhancing or developing new products?
I source all of my materials ethically and sustainably. My ingredients are 100% Organic, and my packaging is made and printed in the USA.
What do you think are some of the biggest challenges for "beauty/ wellness" brands today?
Just being a small business owner today has a host of challenges. I wish there wasn’t so much pressure around branding and aesthetic and perceptions of success. I wish the wellness sphere didn’t have to adhere to the capitalist system that’s the cultural default for businesses. I would love to see a world where we can have a mindful balance of integrity while achieving financial success.
What has been one of your proudest moments since creating Spirit Work?
I’m proud every time I get to partner with other ethical, inclusive, women-owned businesses, whether its my local screen printer or another neighborhood boutique on the other side of the country.
What can we expect in the future?
I’d love to offer more sound mediations, and perhaps expand my line!
What advice would you give customers who want to make the most out of your brand?
Begin with an intention. Every moment is a chance to create space to heal ourselves.
How do you start your day?
My morning begins with my husband and son and your typical weekday family dynamic. I work from home so I may dive right in to email or filling orders. On a good quiet day where I’m taking care of myself, I’ll exercise with a brisk walk around the track if the weather is nice, followed by meditation, journaling, and a little tarot.
Do you have a morning / evening ritual?
When I’m in a good meditation groove, I will sit for 10-20 minutes every morning, sometimes self-guided, sometimes incorporating chanting.
What is your daily skincare routine?
At night I use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer with hyaluronic acid and rosehip oil.
Do you have a daily wellniss routine?
The heart of wellniss for me is creative expression. Any day where I can make music, even if it’s just playing guitar for 15 minutes, is time well spent and provides a reserve of contentment for me.
What is beauty product or tool you can’t live without?
A great night’s sleep. I love Monk Oil and Fat & the Moon’s All Cream.
What do you do for R&R when you need to reboot?
Time in nature, which is difficult and rare in the city. If I take a few seconds to look up at the clouds that can provide a little reset. Laughs with close friends and date nights are great.
What are your must-haves when traveling?
This is a real mom answer, but - refillable water bottle, healthy snacks, and comfortable shoes. A map (okay a phone) and recommendations for good food and fun.
What selfcare advice would you have given yourself 5 years ago?
Slow down; multitasking is overrated.
Do you have any beauty / wellniss advice for our followers?
Be kind to yourselves, and take time to connect with nature. In the silence is where we can create space to work through life’s difficulties. When in doubt, breathe. Do what makes you happy!
