What motivated you to start B3Balm?
I’ve always loved makeup and the different creative ways you could play. I used to own a construction management company and once I was pregnant with my daughter, I knew that I didn’t want to bring her into the world with me working in a volatile environment like that, working up to 100 hours a week some weeks. So, I decided I wanted to follow my passion at the time and work in an industry I loved with, what I thought to be, more flexible hours.
What would you consider your hero product from your brand?
This is hard. I think I would say our Lillie Oil and our B3 Beauty Wand.
What standards / non-negotiables do you take into consideration when thinking about enhancing or developing new products?
I will not develop or change a product without knowing that not only are we using the top grade of whatever ingredient we are using, but also knowing where the product was sourced and knowing that it is cruelty-free in all aspects.
What do you think are some of the biggest challenges for beauty / wellness brands today?
Beauty standards - for us at least, trying to fight the ridiculous beauty standards of beautiful flawless skin and really trying to show that all skin is absolutely stunning. Otherwise, I think the ability to use words like “green” and “organic” without it really being so really hurts small businesses that are trying to make it as 100% green brands.
What has been one of your proudest moments since creating B3Balm?
There have been quite a few, but I think the proudest was launching at the Make Up For Ever Pro store last month. MUFE was the first makeup shop I shopped when I decided to become a professional makeup artist and I remember seeing the skincare they offered, knowing it must be an amazing brand because it was sold and backed by Make Up For Ever and to watch them move that brand to make room for my brand was surreal and an incredible and proud moment.
What can we expect in the future from B3Balm?
More of the same good things. We will be toying with home care products very soon and we have started working in the private label/custom manufacturing market producing incredible all natural products for different brands, hotels and entrepreneurs.
What advice would you give customers who want to make the most out of your brand?
Ask us questions, please. Email us / DM us. We want to ensure you get exactly what you need from our products and customer service is a part of that. We, also, have a skincare quiz on our site that can help you decide which are the best products for you.
How do you start your day?
Usually wake up, lay in bed for 5 minutes, make sure my teen is up and getting ready for school. My skincare routine is minimal in the morning. I usually wash my face with our B3 Facial Cleanser. It is so gentle and usually I will use it with our gentle exfoliating brush. Then, use Lillie or prickly pear oil and a moisturizer. If I don’t have morning meetings, I will try and get a workout in. If I do, I will drive the kiddo to school and make my way directly to the office.
Do you have a morning / evening ritual?
I really don’t besides ensuring I do my skincare and brushing my teeth but this is something I am trying to change.
What is your daily skincare routine?
In the morning, I will wash my face with B3 Facial Cleanser using our super gentle silicone bristle exfoliating brush. Then, I will use B3’s Lillie or Prickly Pear oil (sometimes layer both). Depending on how my skin is feeling or if I will be wearing makeup that day, I use B3 Facial Moisturizer and lastly, the Tiger’s Eye Under Eye Oil followed by our Nourishing Under Eye Cream. 2-3 times a week, I use our Exfoliating Facial Cleanser which uses a pumice exfoliator and is incredibly gentle. At night, it is a little more in depth. Depending on what I did that day, I will use B3 Rose Quartz Oil Cleanser and really pull everything out of my skin from the day. Then I will use our facial cleanser. After that, I either use the B3 Lillie Oil, NYX or Marula Oil and the Nourishing Eye Cream. Then, I take the B3 Beauty Wand and use that for 5-10 minutes - it is a true game changer in the skincare game. I will, also, use the gua sha 2+ evenings a week.
Do you have a daily wellness routine?
No, but really needing to work on this.
What is a beauty product or tool you can’t live without?
B3 Beauty Wand, hands down. It has changed my skin, help sculpt my face and really helped me get healthier skin.
What do you do for R&R when you need to reboot?
Go out to dinner with friends, spend time with my family, meditate or take long walks. Ideally, if I am able, get a hotel room to myself for a night and just relax. Also, a good massage and facial are everything.
What are your must haves when traveling?
Skincare, period. I really think I can get almost anything else I need on the road.
What selfcare advice would you have given yourself 5 years ago?
Take time for you. Not everything has to be done that day and it is ok to leave things from the list until tomorrow. Oh! Breathe.
Do you have any beauty / wellness advice for our followers?
Beauty is you, your smile, your energy and who you are. Try and take moments to see how your loved ones and friends see you and see yourself through their eyes. Take time for yourself, even if it is a 5 minute skincare routine in the evenings and breathe through it. Allow that time to be yours and let yourself know just how much good you do because even on the shit days, I promise you did something wonderful in that day for yourself or someone else. Oh! Also, celebrate the SMALLEST victories, because they are the way you make it to the big goals you have.
